Local Hub Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

The Local Hub Amsterdam strengthens regional and national collaboration by hosting EGOS scholars and providing them with a local hub to meet and exchange research ideas outside of the regular EGOS Colloquium program.

ABRI encompasses a wide variety of business and organization scholars, whose research interests range from Digital Innovation over Ethics, Governance and Society and Human Resource Management and Organizational Behaviour to Operations Analytics, Marketing and Accounting.

Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam is strategically located, making it a sustainable and accessible choice for an EGOS local hub. Organizers of different EGOS 2026 sub-themes, including the Department of Organization Sciences, Management & Organization, and KIN, aim to facilitate discussion within and around their sub-themes. In addition, the local hub Amsterdam will contribute to sustainability through facilitating hybrid sessions open to scholars on train distance to Amsterdam and those who see less possibilities to travel. It also seeks a stimulating and inclusive intellectual environment, by explicitly inviting younger (early career) scholars and offering possibilities for establishing social connections.

What to expect

  • Two large meeting rooms designed to organize hybrid sessions. These rooms will also be set up to collectively connect to central EGOS activities in Bergamo such as opening/closing ceremonies, and sub-plenaries.
  • The Department of Organization Sciences will offer a number of personal working spaces.
  • Several smaller rooms at the campus to attend online sub-themes.
  • Stable Wi-fi (including guest accounts) at the entire campus and state of the art streaming equipment.
  • Various catering options (also vegan and vegetarian) and additional hospitality options on campus (some self-paid).
  • Support staff and student assistants to help with logistics and onsite registration.
  • Multiple oportunities to meet fellow EGOSians and to establish new connections with local colleagues.
  • A vibrant campus and the VU botanical gardens invite attendees to enjoy short walks during breaks.

About the host

The local hub Amsterdam will be hosted by Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and jointly organized by the Amsterdam Business Research Institute (ABRI) and the Department of Organization Science (Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities). Vrije Universiteit has been the host of two EGOS Colloquiua (2008 and 2021) reflecting the infrastructure and capabilities needed to facilitate a high-quality academic event.

VU Amsterdam is strategically located at the Amsterdam Zuidas Business district, which is easily accessible to researchers from universities across The Netherlands by train in no longer than two hours. The VU campus consists of several buildings surrounded by Amsterdam Zuid and its business district as well as green parks. The campus offers space to gather and share moments of joy and refreshment. Several restaurants and bars are located directly on the campus.
