The Local Hub Milan creates a unique space for scholarly exchange among organizational researchers in northern Italy and neighboring regions. Milan's strategic geographical position makes it exceptionally accessible – scholars from throughout Lombardy, Piedmont, Veneto, and Emilia-Romagna can reach the city within an hour by train, while colleagues from Switzerland (particularly Ticino, Zurich, and Geneva) are equally well-connected to Milan's rail network.

While the main EGOS Colloquium organizes participants around international, content-focused sub-themes, the Milan hub offers something different: an opportunity for geographically proximate scholars who might rarely encounter each other in their regular academic work to connect in person. Hosting in Milan allows us to build on the city's vibrant academic community in organization studies, creating a stimulating environment where local scholars can engage actively with the broader EGOS community during the online Colloquium.

What to expect

  • Conference rooms equipped with high-speed internet, projectors, microphones, and hybrid-streaming infrastructure.
  • Hub space with open seating for informal discussions and co-working.
  • Local experience of EGOS as a scholarly community that embodies the spirit of dialogue, collegiality, and community-building.
  • Opportunities to share and receive feedback on manuscripts, with particular support for early-career scholars working in the field of social evaluations.
  • Milan, easily accessible by train from throughout Northern Italy and Switzerland, offers convenient transportation, diverse accommodation options ranging from budget-friendly to upscale.

Schedule (outline)

The Local Hub Milan will run from July 8–11, 2026, in parallel with the main EGOS Colloquium, blending online participation with locally hosted sessions and social activities.

  • Wednesday, July 8 – Pre-Colloquium Workshop:
Social Evaluations - paper writing workshop organized by scholars affiliated with SWG 05 (SEOS), welcoming both local and visiting scholars. Joint participation of the official EGOS Opening Ceremony 2026.

  • Thursday to Saturday, July 9–11 – EGOS Colloquium Days:
Participants will gather each morning to join streamed plenaries and sub-theme sessions, followed by shared discussions and informal breakouts to reflect on key insights. Lunchtime and coffee breaks will provide space for informal mentoring and peer networking. Additionally, a local "Meet the Editors" session will be organized to connect early career researchers with senior scholars and senior editors.
  • Social Activities:
Thursday evening will feature a self-paid dinner in Milan's historic Navigli district, fostering networking in a relaxed atmosphere. Beyond the organized program, participants are encouraged to propose and coordinate informal evening activities. This flexible approach allows attendees to self-organize around shared interests while discovering the city together.
